Language arts: We are just finishing up Theme 2 Community Ties. We learning about: author's viewpoint, noting details, plural endings, compound words, contractions, and combining subjects of two sentences. We will test on this theme next week.

Math: We tested on Unit 3 yesterday. We learned about different ways to solve all different kinds of word problems. The children did very well on the test. Thank you so much for all of your help with preparing them for the test.

Writing: We have been working on publishing our personal narratives. Our next writing project will be to write a story. The children really enjoy our "work on writing" time. Ask your child what their personal narrative is about.

Social: We ended our social switch with Mrs. Kopetka few weeks ago. The children learned about how to read maps. Please continue to work on the Southeast State map packet. They are due on Wednesday, November 24th. We will also have a map labeling test on that day.

Science: We are now switching with Mr. Novacinski in science. The children have been learning matter: solids, liguids, and gases.

Cursive: We have learned the uppercase A,O,E,C,D,M,N,and H. When you see those sheets coming home your child can practice on the back of the sheets. Send them back for extra credit (EC).

Keyboarding: We have started practicing keyboarding in the computer lab.

Study Island: Please note the link to the right. I will be rewarding kids that get blue ribbons at the end of November. Thanks for encouraging this at home. These are great practice for the MCA tests. Last year one of the questions on the MCA test was one that we had on Study Island. If you need more info. about this, please be in touch.

Word Study: Thank you for helping your child practice their word sorts each week. In December I will be reassessing the word study groups. If you feel your child's words are too easy or too hard, please be in touch.

Recess: be sure to send warm clothes. The children do go outside daily. They are not allowed to go in the snow without boots.

Arrival: Thank you for making sure your child is to school on time. It would great if your child could be here by 7:30. That allows your child to be ready to go at 7:40. I really appreciate those families that arrive on time. It just gives us all a great start to the day.
